Farm Tours at Puna Gold Coffee and Cacao Estate

Join us for FARM TOURS Personally Conducted by Chef Stephen!

Farm tours are $35 per person (children under12 are free) by appointment only
Daily except Mondays.  Tours start at 1 PM
Please note that we accept cash only and do not accept credit cards.
15-person limit per tour

What To Expect:
– Tour our 3-acre coffee and cacao estate with the owner, Uncle Stephen
– See our on-site chocolate factory! After your farm tour, you are welcome to visit our chocolate bar factory and see how chocolate is made from cacao!
– Enjoy a free chocolate sample!

You Will Learn About:
Coffee Production: Pick coffee (in season); see coffee trees, cultivation, and process.
Cacao Growing: See how chocolate is made from bean-to-bar.
Bees: See Hives and Learn Beekeeping Techniques

What you will see on your Farm Tour:

Botanical Ornamentals: Orchids, Anthuriums, Heliconia, flowering vines & shrubs, Hibiscus, and Lotus ponds

Fruit Species: Papaya, Pineapple, Bilimbi, Guava, Rambutan, Lilikoi, Avocado, Bananas, Thimbleberries, Poha, Jaboticaba, Loquat, Starfruit, Buddha’s Hand, Kefir Lime, Lime, Ugly Hawaiian Bumpy Lemon, Grapefruit, Ruby Red Grapefruit, Kumquat, Japanese Loquat, Bilimbi, Lilikoi, Guava, Mango, Rambutan, Soursop, Tamarind, Banana, Plantain, Coconut, Fig, Cherimoya, Rollinia, and many varieties of Citrus as well.

Coffee:
 Depending on the season, you can actually pick and taste some coffee cherries and see the equipment used to process them.

Cacao: Tour the fields of inter-planted coffee & cacao trees. See the cacao pods. Learn cultivation techniques. Depending on the season, taste the cacao butter surrounding the seeds as we crack one open for your inspection. Taste roasted cacao nibs. See our chocolate studio & gift shop (still under construction)

Bee Hives, Honey & Pollination: See our 3 Top-Bar Hives in production and learn about bees.

Vegetables we grow include: Okinawan Spinach, Ube (Okinawan Purple Sweet Potatoes), Dawn Dewa, Katuk, Red Mustard, Broadleaf Mustard, Fennel, Tree Collards, African Basil, Arugula, Green Onions, Maui Sweet Onions, Kalo (Taro), Dino Kale, Carrots, Corn, Long Beans, Blue Lake Beans (Bush-Type), Wing Beans, Aji Lemon Hot Peppers, Hawaiian Peppers, Serrano Peppers, Filipino Bell Hot Peppers,

We are located in Leilani Estates near the town of Pāhoa on the Big Island of Hawai’i.
